THE PATRICK SHIFFLETT FOUNDATION

2018 DAMASCUS HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WINNERS

The Patrick Shifflett Scholarship Award was created in 2017 to memorialize the life of Patrick by celebrating the character and accomplishments of special individuals at Damascus High School. It is important to the representatives of the Foundation that we impartially select individuals who exhibit all the qualities we hold dear in Patrick.

Patrick always went out of his way to include everyone, and despite being a well-liked and talented athlete, he never put himself above others. His peers, teachers, and coaches viewed him as a leader on and off the field, but it was his caring nature, and respect for others, that in our minds best-defined Patrick’s character.

Patrick went above and beyond to set an example for the rest of us to follow. His strong moral values and faith guided him to live up to his personal motto, “Always Stay Humble”.

The 2018 graduating class at Damascus High School is blessed to have an abundance of talented and caring students. The scholarships being awarded are not solely based on accomplishments in the classroom, the athletic fields, and/or the dance, music, and art studios – while all important in their own right, it is a proven commitment to the greater good that this award recognizes. Both of the recipients believe and have exemplified through their actions that they can make the world a better place through small and large actions…in a word through CHARACTER.

Congratulations to Andrew Sherwood and Connor Christopher Poole, this year’s winners of the Patrick Shifflett Foundation Scholarship.
